03rd April 2021
The Magic in the Mundane Workshop
At a time when our daily lives are restricted and repetitive, Liz Gibson will help us look at finding sparks of magic in the mundane, and growing that magic into a poem. From daily chores, to the briefest interactions with others, to getting to know our local cats/spiders/geese, we will look at creating poems that can comfort, gently amuse, and uplift others.
Elizabeth Gibson is a poet and performer who lives in Manchester. She won a Northern Writers’ Award in 2017, and her work has appeared in journals including 404 Ink, Atrium, Cake, Confingo, The Gentian, Ink, Sweat & Tears, Popshot and Strix. In 2021, she was chosen by Dibby Theatre for the First Dibs programme for LGBTQ+ writers, and she is excited to develop her spoken-word show with them. It is inspired by her daily life in Manchester, and her walks around the rivers and canals.
Tickets are free for DUPS members and £2 for non-members. The event will take place on Zoom on 3 April (Saturday) from 6pm-7pm. Limited spaces so make sure you reserve yours!
