I’m Beth (she/her) and I’m an actor, script writer, playwright, and general good egg. In 2020, I graduated from the University of Salford with a First Class Degree in Theatre and Performance Practice.
I'm having a rehearsed reading of my play Awareness at Unity Theatre 15th October 2022 Link Below
I love all things comedy, but especially if there’s a little bit of darkness there. I’m proudly autistic and I want to improve the representation of autism and disability through my work.
My motto for writing is life is funny, so try to inject truthful humour in everything I do. Improving the representation of autism and disability is hugely important to me and it was the subject of my university research project, in which I also wrote my first one woman play ‘Sunny Girl’.
My training includes The Writing Squad, the Royal Court Introduction to Playwriting, the Young Everyman Playhouse Writers, Royal Court Liverpool Stage Write, Writing on the Wall, and Theatre 503’s Advanced Playwriting. This Summer I was part of BBC Writersroom’s Write Across Liverpool program, and currently I’m part of Box of Trick’s Pen Pals, Wild Child’s Write Wild, and Traverse Theatre’s Breakthrough Writers. This year I was also a part of the DaDa/NSDF Company, creating a show with Deaf Disabled and Neurodivergent Creatives for the 2022 NSDF Festival.
I have been long listed for a Funny Women Writing Award in 2019, a finalist for Hope Mill’s Through the Mill Prize in 2021, shortlisted for the 2021 Women’s Prize for Playwriting, and won a Cheshire Prize for Literature this year.
I was featured in The Stage with the Neurodivergent Creatives Network, an online support network I co-founded.
This summer I got to spend a day in the Bad Education writers room thanks to Wild Child and Tiger Aspect, and now I am particularly keen to get more writers room experience, whether it be shadowing or being a part of the room.
It is also my dream to write for Doctor Who so if you have access to the TARDIS hook me up!
I am represented by Maddie O'Dwyer at Berlin Associates https://www.berlinassociates.com/clients/12374/
