I’m Beth (she/her) and I’m an actor, script writer, playwright, and general good egg. In 2020, I graduated from the University of Salford with a First Class Degree in Theatre and Performance Practice.
I love all things comedy, but especially if there’s a little bit of darkness there. I’m proudly autistic and I want to improve the representation of autism and disability through my work. I started writing as part of a sketch group, Witty Institute, who were part of SalFunni 2018.
SalFunni 2018 were the first cohort of students from the University of Salford who went up to write and perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. I was longlisted for a Funny Woman award in 2019 for a pilot of a comedy I wrote. In 2020, I was accepted as part of the Writing Squad, as well as the Royal Court introduction to playwriting course, the Young Everyman Playhouse Writers course, and the Royal Court in Liverpool’s playwriting course. In 2021 I was a finalist for Hope Mill’s Through the Mill Prize with my one woman play Sunny Girl, as well as taking part in Writing on the Wall's write to work program. This year I was just shortlisted for the Women's Prize for Playwriting with my latest play Awareness. I was also featured in The Stage with JJ Green launching our network, the Neurodivergent Creatives Network, and I'm developing a platform called the Afterthought List with Jack Silver, in which we aim to showcase and connect Deaf Disabled and Neurodivergent Writers with Industry Professionals. I'm also a part of the DaDa/NSDF Company, creating a show with Deaf Disabled and Neurodivergent Creatives for the 2022 NSDF Festival. I am represented by Maddie O'Dwyer at Berlin Associates.
