Beth Davies
Beth Davies is a poet based in Sheffield. She is a winner of the 2022 New Poets Prize; her debut pamphlet, The Pretence of Understanding, was published in 2023 with The Poetry Business’ imprint, the New Poets List. She has been published in Poetry Wales, Atrium, Rust + Moth, Pulp Poets Press, and The Kindling, as well as in multiple anthologies including Candlestick Press’ Ten Poems about Flowers, Valley Press’ Verse Matters and Hive South Yorkshire’s Surfing The Twilight. She won second place in the 2021 Dead Cat Poetry Prize and the 2022 Magdalena Young Poets’ Prize.
She is a graduate of Durham University Slam Team, which she represented at UniSlam 2020, reaching the semi-finals. She has also performed her work as part of Wakefield LitFest 2022, Sheaf Poetry Festival 2020, and South Yorkshire Poetry Festival 2017.
Between 2018 and 2020, Beth was the editor of The Gentian, Durham University Poetry Society’s official online journal.
