Looking for New Core Team Members
We want to appoint two new members to our Core Team, a poet and a writer with experience in theatre and/or film and TV.
We are looking for people who are passionate about writers and new writing, people who get up in the morning excited by the prospect of working with other writers and who are able to balance this with their own writing career.

You’ll be joining current Core Team members Director Steve Dearden, novelist Jenn Ashworth and poet and maker Stevie Ronnie.
One role has become vacant because, having taken up a full time post at Manchester Metropolitan University, Helen Mort has reluctantly had to step down. Helen says, ‘Working with The Writing Squad has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done. I’ve met so many incredible poets, prose writers and script writers who have taught me at least as much as I have taught them and whose work I know I’ll be reading for many years to come. I’m sadly having to step down from my role to make way for full time work elsewhere but hope I can still have lots of contact with The Squad. Thanks to everyone for your friendship, creativity and support: I’ll miss you more than I can say.’
We are gutted to be losing Helen, she joined us at an important time of transition and helped us up our game immeasurably. It’s no surprise that we have an extraordinary crop of poets at the moment.But change is exciting and we are looking forward to working with new writers, while hoping to continue our relationship with Helen in other ways.
