Lauren is a Word Factory Apprentice Award Winner
Huge congratulations to Squad grad Lauren Vevers, who has won one of the mentorships from the Word Factory Apprentice Awards 2023/24.
Lauren Vevers and Anne Elicaño-Shields were selected from hundreds of applicants for two mentorships, one supporting a northern writer and another a writer whose work demonstrated a strong social/political ethos.
The award has a history of bringing outstanding talent to the attention of the publishing industry, including Claire Adam (Faber), Melissa Fu (Little Brown), Uschi Gatward (Galley Beggar Press), Holly Dawson (Harper Collins), and current award-winning Word Factory team members Giselle Leeb (Salt) , Emily Devane, Farhana Khalique and Divya Ghelani.
Lauren said: ‘I’m so grateful to have been awarded the Word Factory Northern Apprentice Award! It’s a wonderful opportunity to focus on my writing and I’m excited to develop my skills in the craft of short story with access to guidance and mentorship. Thank you New Writing North and Word Factory!’
