Welcome to the School of Hard Facts. We’ve been looking over this hippyish curriculum someone managed to slip through the net and we’ve decided its not on. Learning through play? Music lessons? School productions? We don’t know who let this happen but we know that we will be the ones putting a stop to it. Arrive at 7.30 sharp for a strict re-education programme and leave your smiles at the door.

Written by Manchester writer Georgia Affonso in collaboration with the students of Calerdale College ‘From the Ashes’ explores what it is to be a student today and whether we are really that far from Gradgrind’s motto of ‘You can only form the minds of reasoning animals upon Facts: nothing else will ever be of any service to them.’
