Ila Colley

Ila is a writer and architect. She writes poems, short stories, analysis, script, manifesto and often, nonsense. In conversation with these texts, she works with investigative drawings, models, and designs concerning social and political questions in our spatial inhabitings. Her poetry has been published in Ambit, Magma, The London Magazine online, Butcher’s Dog, hotdog, and in This Place I Know: A New Anthology of Cumbrian Poetry. She has read at Ledbury and Borderlines literary festivals. As a young writer she won the Foyle Young Poets Award in 2013 and 2014, and in 2018 was a third prize winner in the PBS Student Poetry Prize. Her BA and MA graduating projects were awarded various prizes, including by the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland, as well as a DURAVIT scholarship. She is grateful for the recognition and encouragement from these organisations. She has studied and worked in Edinburgh, Stockholm and Copenhagen.
