
Steph Webb
Steph Webb is a museum professional with over 15 years’ experience in the museums and heritage sector across Yorkshire. She is a specialist in developing engaging, accessible and multi-sensory museum and heritage interpretation for a wide range of diverse audiences.
Steph is passionate about storytelling through objects, interpretive text and media, and exhibition design, and loves discovering and sharing the many stories, voices and perspectives held in museum collections. She is committed to making collections and exhibitions relevant to contemporary audiences and representative of our diverse local communities. She believes in a collaborative approach and aims to include coproduced elements in all exhibitions and displays, working in partnerships with a wide variety of local people and groups and helping them to share and celebrate their stories and lived experiences.
Steph is currently Senior Officer: Curatorial & Exhibitions for Wakefield Museums & Castles. She manages the Curatorial & Exhibitions team and oversees an ambitious exhibitions and displays programme across the service’s three museums, two ancient castles, online and in community venues.
She loves the variety of her job and has worked on exhibition topics ranging from Ancient Egypt to cutting edge live events production; from poster art to pantomime. She especially loves telling surprising, quirky or unique local stories and capturing the character of our communities.
Steph is also Chair of Trustees for the Saltaire World Heritage Education Association, who run the Saltaire Collection. She brings her experience and expertise in the museum sector to the charity and is enjoying being involved in and learning more about charity governance.
Steph is an English and History graduate and holds a Master’s in Museum Studies from the University of Leicester, including the Eilean Hooper-Greenhill Dissertation Prize for her thesis on narrative environments and emotional engagement.
