In Conversation with Chloe Elliott and Tom Branfoot at Blackwell’s

Blackwell’s is hosting the launch of two of the 2022 NEW POETS Prize Winners – Tom Branfoot’s THIS IS NOT AN EPIPHANY and Chloe Elliott’s ENCYCLOPAEDIA. Tom and Chloe will both be reading from their work and discussing their collections. The talk will be followed by a signing.

Tom Branfoot – This is Not an Epiphany

Tom Branfoot’s This is Not an Epiphany examines inner and outer landscapes that have become inhospitable; where people are ‘burnt / by business as usual’. This collection is attentive to shifting landscapes where warehouses spring up on empty land, and the incremental austerities that constitute our living; its lyric absorbs the shocks and crises of survival within them.

Tom Branfoot is the writer-in-residence at Manchester Cathedral and a recipient of the New Poets Prize 2022. He organises the poetry reading series More Song in Bradford and has reviews forthcoming in Poetry London, Magma and The Poetry School.

Chloe Elliott – Encyclopaedia

Chloe Elliot’s Encyclopaedia is playful and visceral, exploring boundaries of identity and the search for meaning in poems that delight with richly tactile language. Formally varied, these poems are unflinching in their physicality.

Chloe Elliott is a writer based in York. She is the Gold Winner of the 2020 Creative Future Writers’ Award. Her writing features in Poetry Birmingham Literary Journal, bath magg, Bedtime Stories for the End of the World, Strix, and Magma, amongst others. Currently, she works for art and culture magazine Aesthetica. She is interested in mixedness, scrap ecology and the tactile world.
