Usman on Beginnings
March was a month full of Squad workshops. On the 10th 15 scriptwriters from across all our Squads met in Manchester for our first forum. We spent a morning sharing practice and concerns and identified support the Squad can offer, and what they can offer each other.
In the afternoon Usman Mullan from BBC Writers Room joined us to lead a workshop on script beginnings and how important they are for the reader, the viewer or listener, but also for the whole script.
This month we also had workshops with the poet Hannah Silva sharing her looping skills and wrote songs with Mercury nominee Kathryn Williams.
In May, Squad grad Andy Owen Cook, will lead a workshop exploring site specific theatre-making.
