Tife at Talawa

Current Yorkshire Squad member Tife Kusoro’s latest play, Fly Home Butterfly, has been selected by Talawa Theatre for their annual festival celebrating new Black theatre.

Laide came to the UK to find a better life for her daughter. She works back-breaking jobs to make ends meet for Dele’s private school education. Dele tries to be academically excellent; a ‘good’ one. When Dele receives an offer to study at the University of Oxford, she is suddenly forced to question what it costs to belong and whether this price is worth it.

The play is now in rehearsal, and will be directed by upcoming theatre-maker Abigail Sewell. Tife’s writing for theatre has so far been shortlisted for the Alfred Fagon award, longlisted for the Theatre503 playwriting award and shortlisted for the BBC Drama Room.

Catch Tife’s play at Shoreditch Town Hall on 19th June.
