Joe Wright wins the New Poets Prize
Joe Wright is a winner of the Poetry Business New Poets Prize for his pamphlet HOWK, alongside Zelda Cahill-Patten, and the two runners-up, George Adams and Jacob Burgess Rollo.
These four poets will receive editorial and mentoring support from The Poetry Business, as well as publication in The North and a launch reading. The two winning pamphlets will be published under the New Poets List – an imprint of The Poetry Business.
“HOWK is a pamphlet that burrows down and back: into the rock under its feet, into family histories, into maps and documents, before shooting off into the Pennines in a ‘redleather beemer’ or a bike that crashes; or jumping off ‘Black Bridge even though the safe spot was only two meters wide’. These are poems of love and frustration: eager to break out of the kitchenette to Chapel Fell and Langley Beck.” – Holly Hopkins
