James Varney

Squad grad James Varney is working with HOME and the British Film Institute to deliver ‘Intro to Filmmaking’, a series of eight workshops for young people aged 16-25 in Hulme, Manchester. As Project Coordinator James is delivering the work through We Live Here, his ongoing project encouraging creative conversations about our right to the city with citizens of Manchester.

Young people will have the opportunity meet professional filmmakers and learn about writing, photography, shooting and editing films – and given access to professional equipment so they can try it out themselves. James has coordinated delivery of the project and commissioned film industry professionals to deliver the workshops, including fellow Squad grad Riley Bramley-Dymond.

If you know any young people who might be interested, they can sign up online here.

You can follow We Live Here for updates on Instagram.
