James and Transform

Throughout March and April, Squad grad James Varney is working with Leeds-based international performance festival, Transform. James will be curating the ‘Thinking’ section of the website, commissioning creative responses and records from the artists presenting work at the festival. Expect a mix of essays, videos, photos and sound!

Creative Director of the festival, Amy Letman said: ‘We are thrilled to be working on this with the very brilliant James Varney… Before the pandemic we started a conversation with James about what writing for performance can look like in the future, and how a festival and ‘theatre critic’ might collaborate more closely. We’re very pleased that he’s agreed to join us on this journey.’
