Read Lauren’s Grief Letters on Substack
Lauren Vevers has started grief letters on Substack and you can subscribe for free.
Lauren says, “I’ve written for years, but somewhere along the way, I became self-conscious about drawing from personal experience. It wasn’t writer’s block exactly—more like I gave myself the ick. I forgot that writing doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s a process, and that process can be exploratory, messy, and fun. It’s called grief letters because grief has loomed large in my life for the last decade. Sometimes as a painful, destructive force. But also as a lesson in seeking out pleasure and learning how to live.”
The second grief letter is out now and features: accidental afters, gym class humiliation, a lost nose stud, and a classic queer date.
Lauren will be sending out letters roughly once a month. Subscribe here.
