Georgie Wins NCLA Award

New Squad 10 member Georgie Woodhead has won a Young People’s Poetry Prize at the Newcastle Poetry Competition 2020. Selected alongside ten other young writers, you can read Georgie’s award-winning entry, ‘Baba’s Burgers’, here.

Georgie joined the Squad earlier this month, and comes to us after working with Hive South Yorkshire for the last four years. With their help she went on to win Foyle Young Poet of the Year in 2018 and a BBC Young Writers Award in 2019. She received the Hive Young Writers Award in both the poetry and short story categories last year.

Georgie’s work is now featured in a digital anthology with all of the prizewinners’ entries.
