Fielding Ronshaugen is a primary school teacher living in Manchester. As a writer and teacher, Fielding has strong interest in creative writing in education: the process of teaching to write and writing to teach.

Fielding is an experienced poetry and prose workshop leader both within her career and through her involvement in creative and literary festivals. She has designed activities for the Manchester City of Literature Multi-Lingual Mushaira and run in-school writing workshops supporting children aged 5-11 to write bilingual poetry. She has run several poetry workshops focused on narrative storytelling and shape poetry in Durham primary schools and has worked with the Writing Squad and the Manchester Literature Festival’s 6 Minute Reads on a prose writing workshop for high school aged students. Fielding has also conducted creative workshops for festivals such as the Just So Festival and the Bridlington Poetry Festival. She has extensive experience writing curricula and can help to support in the design of an engaging learning programme with an expertise in marrying the national curriculum, school’s diverse needs and
“real creative writing”.

When working with children, Fielding encourages children to use their imaginations freely and wildly, take their own work seriously and understand the power of the editing process. In her own work, Fielding values a strong sense of place and evocative imagery. This is the underpinning that supports her guidance for young people finding their own writerly voices.

Fielding has lived in Las Vegas, California, Manchester, York and Durham. This eclectic background has led Fielding to craft short narrative poems which ask “Where?” and “Why?” and make tight use of sound and internal rhyme. She is also interested in reading and writing sci-fi and fantasy prose and journalistic meta regarding fandom culture. Fielding began writing poetry during her A-Levels. After winning the Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award in 2010, she became more involved in the poetry scene, publishing in Cake, Magma and Cadaverine as well as interning with The Poetry Society and taking part in various poetry and arts festivals, including Ledbury and Bridlington.
